Classroom Policies:
- Goals: The goal of this course is to develop student mastery of the 11 grade California Social Science Standards.
- Classroom Expectations: Students are expected to arrive to class on time and with the educational supplies. Each student should have a binder, pen and paper. No spiral notebooks will be allowed.
- Homework Policy: Students will be periodically assigned papers. These papers will vary in length, and must be typed. No handwritten papers will be accepted. Computers and printers are available on campus should students require them.
- Plagiarism: If a student copies any portion of another author’s text from any source without citing its origin, it is regarded as plagiarism and will receive a “0” on the paper. In addition, the student is also eligible for disciplinary action from school administration.
- Movies: At least once a semester (and possibly more), students will receive a movie project. Movie projects must be videotaped, and presented in a format that the teacher is capable of viewing. They may work with up to three other students, or alone. The same amount of work is required of an individual as is a group. Every student in a group will receive the same grade.
- Tests: Students will be given a quiz roughly every two weeks, and a final at the end of each semester.
- Make-up Tests and Assignments: Make-up tests will be scheduled on Saturdays on campus at Warren High School. Students will have as many days as they are absent to make up missing homework assignments.
- Late Work: Late work from one grading period will not be accepted past the end of that grading period. For example, students will not be able to complete missing assignments from the first quarter during the second quarter. Any late work accepted will only receive 50% of the points earned on the assignment.
- Grading Policy: At the end of each grading period, each student’s total points earned will be added up and divided by the total points possible. The percentage will then be compared to the following scale and the corresponding grade applied:
100-90%= A
89-80%=B
79-70%=C
69-60%=D
59%-0=F
- Absences: Students that are absent are expected to make up any notes they may have missed upon their return to class.
